Sunshine and blue skies greeted me on Wednesday morning so I visited the Patterson River where I knew there would be some waterbirds. A Great Egret which I have photographed many times before was there to greet me as was the same White-faced Heron and Royal Spoonbill.
It was a bonus to come across a Red-rumped Parrot, Eastern Rosella and Grey Butcherbird in nearby parklands.

I was cleaning up some tree branches when I was alerted to the presence of a Wedge Tailed Eagle by the local birds going beserk. My camera wasn't too far away so I rushed inside to get it but only to discover that the eagle had disappeared. A quick walk around the paddocks and I could see it perched in a gum tree about 100 metres away.
It wasn't long before it was flushed out by a pair of angry magpies and a couple of ravens, beginning to soar majestically as only an eagle can do.
There was little time to check the settings on my camera so I blasted away as it flew directly over me with some of the shots filling the viewfinder, capturing only part of the bird. Here's a few quick snaps that I managed to take less than an hour before making this post.

I first noticed this flock of Grey Teals last must at Kilcunda in Victoria and didn't think much of it as I often see them flying along the southern coastline. After a recent visit and examining the photos, it was obvious that there were 6 Pink-eared Ducks amongst them. So back to the original photo (top) and sure enough, there they were. Apparently it is a common practice for Pink-eared Ducks to associate themselves with a larger flock of Grey Teals.

I was quite surprised to see a pair of King Parrots land on a tree in my backyard. Having lived in the one place for 30 years, this is the first time that I have sighted them here. A quick dash inside produced my camera and despite the inclement weather I was more than happy to get whatever photos that I could.

Cold, grey skies and lots of rain making it pretty hard to get out and about but I have managed to get a few shots at various locations recently.
