I've always found Brown Goshawks difficult and elusive to photograph so I was quite happy to get this opportunity at Braeside Park. A Black Shouldered Kite continually swept upon this bird and I was directly under the action for a birds eye view. It appears to be an immature bird and at times it was between myself and the sun.

I ventured to Stockyard Point on the eastern side of Westernport Bay yesterday afternoon hoping to see some shorebirds and while I didn't observe a great deal of variety, I was compensated by great numbers of Curlew Sandpipers and Red Necked Stints. Also present were many Gull Billed Terns and Whiskered Terns.
A Brown Falcon made a brief appearance and the ensuing chaos could not be captured by my telephoto lens. Note to self: always take a wide angle lens in the kit.

A pair of Great Crested Grebes were busy feeding their young in front of the bird hide at Braeside Park yesterday afternoon, allowing photo opportunities despite the glass windows.
Walking around the ponds proved to be fruitful with many more sightings of the lesser seen species including these Pink Eared Ducks
